QUESTION:
My daughter was diagnosed with open-angle glaucoma when she was 19 years old.
She is 35 and has received poor care over the years and until recently no care at all due to lack of health insurance.
Her vision suffered until she met a wonderful and decent optometrist that began the process of saving her vision and informing her of new techniques that may enhance her quality of life.
We continue to see Dr. Richardson in our desperate search for an experienced surgeon in canaloplasty. We are in the Illinois area, but willing to do everything in our power to consult with him. She currently has Molina insurance. Would this be acceptable?

ANSWER:
I do not participate with insurance, I can recommend two excellent canaloplasty surgeons near Illinois that may be in-network: Dr. Thierry Wilbrandt in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Dr. Frank Burns in Louisville, Kentucky.
