QUESTION:
Does Dr. Richardson perform sutureless Canaloplasty?
via Email
ANSWER:
I do perform Ab-Interno Canaloplasty (ABiC). However, I generally reserve it for those who cannot tolerate Ab-Externo Canaloplasty due to use of blood thinners or difficulty staying still for any significant period of time. The early data on ABiC is impressive, but no one knows yet if the IOP lowering effect will last. Ab-Externo Canaloplasty, on the other hand, has years of data and surgeon experience supporting its longer-term benefit.
I’ve copied my nurse, Ana, on this email if you wish to schedule a consultation with me. At that time we could further discuss which version of Canaloplasty, if any, would be most appropriate.
