QUESTION:

I’ve been taking Kronek capsules as a supplement for over a year now. Initially I was on 1 capsule/day but for the last 1/2 year or so I increased it to 2/day. My ophthalmologist didn’t know about it, he did however show interest and looked it up which didn’t seem to have convinced him that it lowers IOP due to the limited studies available, but he didn’t discourage me from taking it either.

Since Kronek is not available in Greece, friends bring it for me from Italy. I am presently at the point of replenishment. Should I continue? or should I take a break, say until end of the year.

Please bear in mind that I have recently started taking Pukka’s organic ashwagandha root in capsules so do you think I should stop with Kronek for a while and carry on with ashwagandah or should I continue with both ?

Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

ANSWER:

I’m glad to hear that you have at least limited access to the Kronek brand of Forskolin (something my patients in the USA do not). Unfortunately, it would be inappropriate for me to provide individualized medical advice to you as I have not had the opportunity to perform a medical eye exam. Without that information along with a knowledge of your medical history, list of current medications, etc. it would also be unprofessional to give advice regarding what treatments (including supplements) and dose should be taken. I am hopeful you will find a local ophthalmologist who can provide the guidance you are requesting.

My apologies that I could not be of greater assistance. Again, I hope you will understand that I am bound both by medical ethics and by my state licensure with regard to whom I may provide individualized medical advice. What I write for my blog and other websites is intended for a broad audience of those with glaucoma and is for informational purposes only.

Warm regards,
